Gradual Introductions To The Biblical Diet
Diet orientation on a biblical front needs a better understanding of the foods and eating options that were recommended as per the scriptures.
In as much as it may not be evident, God is concerned about our overall health. There are some reasons why God is concerned about our diet. The reasons for God’s concern for our health are such as; He loves us and wishes for our wellbeing, His communication to us is through our brain, He is our maker and regards us as His children and because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Bible verses such as; 1 John 4:19 “We love Him because He first loved us.” Show God’s love for us and how much He wishes for our wellbeing. He wishes what is best for us in this world and in our lives therefore the diet among other things encompasses this fact.
It is directly proportional in how the brain works in relation to the food that we eat. A clouded mind and clouded judgment hinders what God is trying to tell us which can be sometimes attributed to not eating well. In eating healthy it becomes easier for one to answer God’s calling and understand His word better. Temptations and deceit from the devil often follow after taking the path of an unhealthy diet, this affects the plans that God has for a person and they may fail to hear His call or understand the scriptures well.
We are His creation and His children as well and therefore wants what is best for what He has made, in this case being our diet. it is easy to see how much God cares for us as His creation in the scriptures with the example of; “And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, said the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18.
When it comes to consideration of the diet, we also have to consider that our bodies are the temple of the holy spirit and therefore should be well taken care of an also serves as another reason why God is concerned about our diet and wellbeing. Our bodies being the temples of the holy spirit should thus be handled and used in a way that brings glory to God.
In the beginning, the diet mainly comprised of plants and vegetables later mostly especially in the garden of Eden. The diet continued to diversify and after the flood, there was introduction of flesh foods to the diet. But this did not come without conditions.
